BC Mining Week Community Fair 2009 Recap
Lots of fun was had and many things were learned at the BC Mining Week Community Fair held at the Vancouver Art Gallery on May 6, 2009. Nine Lower Mainland schools and the public took part in a day filled with learning opportunities about geology, mining and the mineral exploration industry. The day was coordinated by MREPBC along with AMEBC and garnered the participation of many volunteers from the mining industry. The fair is held annually during BC Mining Week to raise awareness about the mining industry in BC and to allow schools and the public to learn more about the industry.
The schools that attended this year were: Admiral Seymour Elementary, Elsie Roy Elementary, Immaculate Conception School, Lord Selkirk Elementary and Waverley Elementary from Vancouver; Halls Prairie Elementary and Strawberry Hill Elementary from Surrey; Capitol Hill Elementary from Burnaby and Langley Meadows Elementary from Langley. Below is a sampling of pictures showing the activities each class participated in throughout the day. To view a larger version of each photo in a separate window click on the image.
