MREPBC Mineral Resources Development Video Compilation (DVD) -- $25.00
This single DVD includes seven industry videos:
Sustaining the Future
It examines the complete mining and milling processes involved in open pit mining at the Highland Valley Copper mine near Logan Lake, BC. It offers superb images of the pit, blasting, trucking, crushing, and milling. Operations are explained in the context of the environmental plan the mine has designed to ensure sustainable land use after mining has ceased.
Beneath the Surface
It highlights Myra Falls underground zinc/copper mine in Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island. It takes the viewer underground to observe mining operations, then back up to the surface to see how ore is processed in the mill. It also presents the water treatment system, and unique circumstances of this mine operating in a park.
Coal: Fueling the Future
It investigates coal - how it is formed, how it is mined, its historical uses, its current uses, and its importance to the Canadian economy. It also includes discussions of the environmental impacts of burning coal and how to minimize pollution.
Elk Valley Coal
It provides a brief overview of the Elk Valley Corporation, which operates a string of coal mines in Southeastern BC.
Quinsam Coal
It introduces the underground coal mining operation on Vancouver Island.
Search for a Hidden Resource
It introduces methods of mineral exploration - regional prospecting, soil sampling, exploration camps, geophysical surveys, trenching and drilling are explained in the context of progressive stages of exploration. Regulation of mineral claims and land reclamation are also discussed.
Zinc - The Great Protector
It uncovers everything about zinc that you may not have known before: where it comes from, how it is processed, and how it is used in galvanizing, die casting, zinc oxide and rolled zinc products.
