Rocks Music
Rocks, by Joan Corner*, is a music-based, integrated teaching unit with a creative, fun-filled approach to helping children learn about rocks and minerals! This is a 2 CD set. CD-1 holds the Rocks instructional binder and Crystal's Courage readers' theatre, both in PDF format. CD-2 holds six, wonderfully informative, original and easy-to- sing songs, plus a mineral Identification Rap, as well as instrumental versions of each song.The Rocks instructional binder contains lyrics and guitar chords for each song, many activities to link movement to the music (e.g. body percussion, line dancing), a teaching story, A Day in the Mountains, and many guided suggestions to help teach the main concepts to young learners. The Readers' Theatre play, Crystal's Courage, is a play about individual differences.

*Joan Corner has been a classroom teacher and music teacher in British Columbia for over twenty years. She has a B. Ed., A.R.T.C. (piano) and Level II Orff. She has written many songs, plays, and rhymed stories to accompany other themes, and has directed many choral groups and musical stage productions. Now retired and living in Nelson, British Columbia, Joan remains active in music education in Nelson area schools.
