Science of Mining - A Resource Unit
Mineral resource development requires expertise in all fields of science. This teacher-written resource consists of lab activities that mimic the mining process. It introduces rocks and minerals as non-renewable resources, environmental assessments and impacts at mine sites, the value of minerals in daily life, and the techniques involved in ore extraction, processing, and refining.

The Science of Mining labs fulfill curriculum requirements for Grade 8 and 10 Science, Earth Science 11, Science & Tech 11, and Sustainable Resources 11 &12.

The Science of Mining experiment materials are available for $50.00. A teacher support package of AV and print materials that supplements the Science of Mining lesson plans is also availabe for $25.00. This support package is the same as the Sustainable Resources 11/12 Support Materials. Both of these resources can be purchased from MREPBC.
