Jim MilrossFraser Heights Secondary, Surrey
Jim is a geophysicist turned high school teacher who teaches general science, Earth Science 11 and Geology 12. Jim worked with Steve Kellas (above) to create MREPBC's Earth Sciences 11 Geology 12 "Resources and Ideas", sharing it via their hands-on instructional workshops with hundreds of other teachers and student teachers throughout BC.
April NelsonRocky Mountain Elementary, Elkford
April is a primary teacher who helped in the development of the MREPBC's primary Social Studies reader, Mining Community: Elkford, BC, and the accompanying activity book for students.
Mary RingwaldEagle Ridge Elementary, Port Moody
Mary is a primary classroom teacher who was one of the original co-authors of the K-3 Integrated Resource Unit: Kids and Rocks, and was instrumental in piloting and presenting inservice workshops for this resource in its earliest years. Mary has also involved her students in piloting new MREPBC contests and student programs at CIM.
Bruce KilohTerry Fox Secondary, Coquitlam (retired)
Bruce Kiloh is a co-founder on the school program, who worked with Maureen Lipkewich to construct our industry -- teacher partnership program. Bruce wrote and presented inservice workshops for the original Social Studies 10 Mining in BC Resource Unit. He has been instrumental in strengthening MREPBC connections to UBC, annually leading a field trip for student teachers to Britannia, and presenting a workshop for the secondary social studies unit. He also facilitates the careers-focussed program for secondary students at Mineral Exploration Roundup.
Elizabeth GreenwaySecond Street Community School, Burnaby
Elizabeth Greenway is a primary classroom teacher. She is one of the original authors of the K-3 Integrated Resource Unit: Kids and Rocks has presented inservice workshops for the resource unit for other teachers since 1999. Elizabeth has also helped guide and develop activities to supplement the K-3 unit (Mining Community Elkford, BC and activity book; K-3 Safety Unit).
Ed HarrisonNew Caledonia Secondary, Terrace (retired)
Ed Harrison is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Education, UNBC (Terrace). Before retiring in 2000 Ed taught secondary social studies in Terrace. In his leadership roles within the BC Social Studies PSA and affiliation with the UBC Faculty of Education, Ed provided guidance to MREPBC and was instrumental in opening doors to present workshops and MREPBC resources to social studies student teachers at UBC.
David HealingStanley Humphries Secondary, Cranbrook (retired)
David Healing, a geologist turned high school teacher,taught secondary science, including ESCI 11 and Geology 12 in Cranbrook. For several years Dave prepared the Geology 12 provincial exam for the Ministry of Education, and later compiled the Geology 12 Question & Answer Database and contributed it to MREPBC for distribution to other BC science teachers.
Heather HutchisonGeorge Greenaway Elementary (retired)
Heather Hutchinson was an intermediate grade level classroom teacher and one of the co-authors of the Grade 5 Integrated Resource Unit on Mining. Heather and co-author Patty Kiloh presented inservice workshops for this flagship resource to hundreds of other teachers until 1999. Heather has also involved her students in piloting new MREPBC contests and student programs at CIM.
Steve KellasCentennial Secondary, Coquitlam (retired)
Steve Kellas is one of the co-authors of Earth Sciences 11 Geology 12 "Resources and Ideas", and has presented the workshop for this unit to teachers across the province and to student teachers. Steve continues to assist with the elementary workshop presentations, leads field trips for teachers, presents hands-on activities and facilitates programs for students at both Mineral Exploration Roundup and the BC Mining Week Community Fair, and helps judge student work for MREPBC contests.
Carole BorthwickJessie Wowk Elementary, Richmond (retired)
Carole taught elementary grades up until she retired 2bbb. Carole and Marnie Ridout (below) who taught a year-long geology and mining unit for their Gr 3-4-5 students, developed the 3-D Rock Cycle Model supplement to the MREPBC elementary resource units, and contributed to the Rocks & Dirt... activity book for students. Today Carole partners with Marnie to facilitate MREPBC teacher field trips, helps judge student work for MREPBC contests, and helps present programs for students at the BC Mining Week Community Fair.
Kerry LockwoodPinetree Secondary, Coquitlam
Kerry Lockwood, an Earth Science and rock enthusiast, teaches general science, biology, ESCI 11 and Geology 12 at Pinetree. She taught secondary science, including Earth Science 11 and Geology 12, at Centennial Secondary before transferring to Anmore Elementary where she supported their K-7 science programs in her position as a Resource and Gifted Student teacher. Kerry is the lead developer of a new MREPBC resource unit, Grade 7 Earth Sciences.
Greg SmithSouthern Okanagan Secondary, Oliver
Greg is a social studies specialist and teacher-librarian. He helped guide the development, and was the premier facilitator and official instructor for MREPBC's university course for teachers, Mineral Resources Development.
Dawn K. VogtStoney Creek Elementary (retired)
Dawn was a primary classroom teacher who was one of the original co-authors of the K-3 Integrated Resource Unit: Kids and Rocks. She was instrumental in piloting and presenting inservice workshops for this resource in its earliest years.
Alison WaterhouseYork House School, Vancouver
Alison teaches secondary science. She is a co-contributor to the MREPBC's new Grade 7 Earth Sciences resource unit.
Dana MeronukCoquitlam School District 43 (retired)
Dana was instrumental in building this education-industry partnership by facilitating access to key education groups and people which made MREPBC outreach and support for teachers early on a success. She was also instrumental in the Education Program's nomination and award from the Conference Board of Canada.
Aliisa SartePort Moody Secondary, Port Moody
Aliisa teaches general science, biology, Earth Sciences 11 and Geology 12. She is one of MREPBC's teacher partners who co-present an inservice workshop for the PDAC Mining Matters' Discovering Diamonds resource unit with secondary science teachers in BC.
Dave SchneiderRutland Senior Secondary, Kelowna (retired)
Dave taught general science, Earth Sciences 11 and Geology 12. He facilitates and co-leads professional development field trips for teachers in the Boundary region.
Donald McRaeCentennial Secondary, Coquitlam (retired)
Don McRae taught secondary science in Coquitlam, and was part of the initial teacher team who partnered with our industry to guide the development of MREPBC's new teaching resources. He was the original teacher-writer of and workshop presenter for the Science 10 Mining in BC Resource Unit.
Dave MeronukMontgomery Middle School, Coquitlam (retired)
Dave Meronuk worked with colleague Phil Wright (below) to update and revise the secondary social studies unit to fit new curriculum. Dave was the lead teacher on the MREPBC environment video, Digging for Answers, and assisted with the development of the Rocks & Dirt Just Aren't My Thing video. Dave also worked with Director Maureen Lipkewich to design and implement MREPBC's university course for teachers, Mineral Resources Development.

Devon RossSummit Middle School, Coquitlam
Devon teaches general sciences and is Vice Principal at Summit Middle School. Previously, Devon taught senior secondary science at Vancouver Technical Secondary,including Geology 12, Devon is one of our presenters for the PDAC Mining Matters' Discovering Diamonds resource unit which MREPBC has delivered in BC since 2007.
Eric RustandNorkam Sr. Secondary, Kamloops
Eric teaches general science, math, Earth Science 11, and videography. He was a student teacher of Don McCrae (above) and took on revision of the Science of Mining unit to fit new curriculum. Eric was also instrumental in guiding the development of MREPBC's BCIT Mining Technology Diploma Program video, developed Investigating Careers in the Minerals Industry web-based student activity, and has worked with his own students to develop a library of mining career video profiles hosted on bcminerals.ca. Eric facilitates and co-leads MREPBC field trips for teachers in the Kamloops area, has represented MREPBC on resource education panels.
Rob SandhuUBC Gifted Education (retired)
Rob taught social studies and geography in Coquitlam schools. While serving as an officer in the BC Social Studies PSA in early days of MRPEBC, Rob was instrumental in helping build the teacher -- industry partnership and facilitating ways to share MRPEBC's teacher-written resources with other teachers.
Phil WrightPinetree Secondary, Coquitlam (retired)
Phil worked Dave Meronuk (above) to update and revise the secondary social studies unit to fit new curriculum and to share this with other teachers through the Social Studies PSA conference workshops.
Ann Therese BraceSecond Street Community School, Burnaby (retired)
Ann Brace is one of the original developers of the K-3 Integrated Resource Unit: Kids and Rocks and has presented inservice workshops for the resource unit for other teachers since 1999. Ann has helped developed numerous activities to supplement the K-3 unit (Mining Community Elkford, BC and activity book; K-3 Safety Unit; I am an Exploration Geologist) and is currently also delivering a hands-on rocks workshop for primary students, Kids & Rocks, in Lower Mainland schools.
Bliss DoddWellington Secondary, Nanaimo
Bliss Dodd teaches secondary social studies. He has provided MREPBC feedback and guidance on secondary social studies curriculum, and has presented instructional workshops for the MREPBC's Social Studies 10/11 resource unit to UBC student teachers.
Andrea EislerInman Elementary, Burnaby
Andrea Eisler is Grade 5 classroom teacher. She has presented inservice workshops for the MREPBC's Grade 5 mining unit since 1998 and has offered guidance on all resources and initiatives for intermediate classrooms. Andrea has also guided and contributed to the development of supplementary materials for the Grade 5 unit (Rocks & Dirt...video and activity book, Underground Mine Safety) and contributor to the development of MREPBC's Grade 7 Earth Sciences resource unit.
Kelly HawboltMagee Secondary, Vancouver
Kelly Hawbolt teaches secondary social studies at Magee. Kelly provided guidance on the development of MREPBC's BCIT Mining Technology Diploma Program video, a career resource that was provided to every secondary school career program in BC.

Patty KilohWilliam Watson Elementary, Surrey
Patty Kiloh just retired (June 2010) as Principal at William Watson Elementary. Before moving into administration, Patty was an intermediate grades classroom teacher and was one of the co-authors of the MREPBC's the Grade 5 Integrated Resource Unit on Mining. Patty and co-author Heather Hutchinson (above) presented inservice workshops for this flagship resource to hundreds of other BC teachers until 2000. Patty was also the lead teacher in the development of MREPBC's mining process video -- Rocks & Dirt Just Aren't My Thing or Are They? She has also involved her students in piloting MREPBC initiatives for students.
