2021 Mining Month Virtual Scavenger Hunt

Contest Dates: May 3 - 31, 2021

May 2021 is B.C. Mining Month. Celebrate mining in our province by joining MineralsEd in the 2021 Mining Month Virtual Scavenger Hunt!

Explore five different mining communities across B.C. and learn all about B.C.’s mining heritage and legacy, the different minerals mined in B.C, and mining and the environment. At each stop, participants will be challenged to find information from a variety of interactive online sources and will be given a series of questions to answer.

A prize will be awarded to a participant who completes the scavenger hunt questionnaire at each location. In addition, a grand prize will be awarded to a participant who successfully completes all five scavenger hunts!

RBCM@Home (Kids) We All Rock

MineralsEd has teamed up with the Royal BC Museum and the Stewart Museum (Stewart, B.C.) for May Mining Month!

Rocks and minerals are all around us, but did you know how important they are in our every day lives? Just think, the pencil lead you use, batteries, electronics, appliances, vehicles, electrical wires, the salt on your table and the coins in your pocket and much more, all contain elements from rocks.

May is Mining Month in British Columbia, so for this session of RBCM @ Home(Kids) we are learning about the rock cycle with special guests Shirley Rosichuk at the Stewart Museum in Stewart B.C. and Allegra Whistler at MineralsEd in Vancouver, B.C.

Join us on Wednesday, May 19 at 11:00-11:30 am as we learn about rocks and the rock cycle, and uncover why it is all so important through a fun, hands-on activity.
