Teachers' Winter 2010 Update!

MREPBC is working again (our 7th year!) with the Association for Mineral Exploration BC (AME BC) to host students and teachers in special education programs at this exciting mining exploration conference.

What on Earth is in your stuff? and WHERE on Earth does it come from? Those are the questions behind a contest for young people that challenges them to find out about the minerals making up the things they use everyday.
A series of 12 slides depicting the mining process is now availble for teachers to download who are teaching the
K-3 Integrated Resource Unit: Kids and Rocks. These slides depict the process of miing from the start of removing ore, all the way to fininished products and back to mine reclamation.

The Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation will be holding a 5-day (Aug 15-19) professional development workshop for Earth Science teachers in Field, BC. The workshop will consist of a combination of lectures, exercises which can be easily taken into the classroom (and curriculum) and a field trip through the Rockies.
